Musician in Residence

We are seeking a Musician in Residence to join our team at Twickenham School, part of Bourne Education Trust.

As Musician in Residence, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, targeted musical provision and enrichment to pupils, under the guidance of the Head of Music and Senior Leaders. The role supports the development of musical skills, creativity, and performance across the school, raising standards of achievement and fostering a lifelong love of music. The Musician in Residence will contribute to the inclusive ethos of the school and Bourne Education Trust, promoting access to music for all pupils and enhancing the cultural life of the school.

Twickenham School is a high-performing mixed secondary school for students aged 11-16 in Twickenham, south west London. Position: Musician in Residence

Contract: Part time, fixed term (hours flexible to suit successful candidate)

Start Date:  1st September 2025 (or ASAP)

Salary:  NJC Scale 5 (£31,074 -£32,931 FTE)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and direct ensembles, bands, and choral groups in line with professional specialisms
  • Provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and lessons
  • Deliver engaging extracurricular musical activities, including choirs and instrumental ensembles
  • Teach instrumental lessons, music theory, and composition as require

Requirements include:

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of pupils
  • Relevant music qualification (e.g., degree or diploma) or equivalent
  • Piano proficiency at Grade 8 level or equivalent, with strong sight-reading and conducting skills

Desirable

  • Technical proficiency with Sibelius, Cubase, and other DAW software
  • Experience with GCSE Music examination boards
